The IPA has launched a web-based tool which analyses the TouchPoints diary data. The system, called IPA DataPresenter, has been developed on behalf of the IPA by FCF Ltd for TouchPoints1 subscribers who want a quick and easy way into the data. IPA DataPresenter is simple and easy to use, requires no training and creates a series of charts based on daily patterns of behaviours and time-spent analysis.
For example, you can chart when people are using the internet across the average weekday, or when they are shopping across the average weekend.
Alternatively, you can look at how much time is spent during an average weekday in an activity, or by location or by media. For example, do men spend more time relaxing than women? Do women spend more time talking than men?
You can also chart the profile of those who spend the most time engaged in an activity or at a location or in terms of who they are with. It can be used, for example, to demonstrate the profile by age of those who spend the most time using a mobile phone.
Says Lynne Robinson, Research Director, IPA: “ IPA DataPresenter is a quick and easy way for anyone interested in the TouchPoints diary to look at some top-line data. The great thing about this tool is that it requires no training, is easy to use and because it is web based, it can be used any time, any place, anywhere.”
Says Denise Turner, Head of Insight and Effectiveness, MPG: “One of the most important tasks for us as researchers is to ensure that IPA TouchPoints is widely adopted and used. IPA DataPresenter will really help us with that process as it provides easy access to the data and enables everyone, from the most to the least experienced, to quickly explore hypotheses and get to insights.”
TouchPoints1 data is available to anyone who comes to the IPA site, while
TouchPoints2 data is available only to
subscribers. IPA DataPresenter can be accessed via the
TouchPoints site.
