IPA Global

“Our industry is part science,

part genius, and onwards to creative glory. But first there is the IPA.”

Colin Farmer, General Manager and Talent Director, Impact BBDO Group MENA

Why work with us?

The IPA is a not-for-profit trade body with a simple aim: promoting the value of agencies and championing advertising as a driver of economic growth. We also believe that the advertising sector is a force for good and a driver of economic growth, which we champion in our work with UKTI and other organisations in wider business, social and regulatory contexts.

Training agency staff is a key part in our strategy as we know clients trust agencies that invest in their staff. We believe that the more time the industry gives up to learning, the better it will be for agencies, their staff and their clients. The IPA's award-winning range of courses and qualifications are becoming a global standard for learning and development in the advertising industry. Our qualifications are used by agencies in more than 60 countries.

Our credentials speak for themselves. In 2015:

  • over 5,000 advertising professionals attended an IPA training programme in the UK
  • over 1,500 people from across the globe passed our Foundation Certificate
  • 8,000 people accessed our content via the IPA website or through our partnership with WARC

Training, Learning and Development

Our goal is to continue transforming advertising and marketing communications from a professional industry into a profession. That means developing the skills and expertise of those who work in the profession so that clients and the general public perceive them as qualified, trusted, valued and expert.

By enhancing the skill base and reputation of the profession, we will attract and retain the brightest, most diverse talent to enhance business growth. We achieve this by delivering industry-leading learning and development that meets the core, common needs of our varied and constantly changing audience, by listening to agency needs and sharing their experiences.

We offer training courses developing craft and business skills, qualifications, events, reading material and online content, we even offer advice on planning training strategies. Whatever it is you need – as a graduate, CEO or somewhere in between – we’ll get you to where you want to be.

At the IPA we have a wealth of knowledge that we use to inform, educate and inspire the industry. In addition to our qualifications, we share our learning through publications, best practice guides, award schemes and brand case studies. Find out more here.

The IPA is dedicated to effectiveness and is your route to commissioning, producing and understanding successful marketing and advertising. We offer case studies, reports, joint industry events and shared learning of the world’s most successful campaigns and brands. Our aim is to create and promote a shared effectiveness culture by building an unrivalled evidence base for how communications activity delivers value, and by equipping clients and agencies with the tools and techniques to put it into practice every day.

We are also home to advertisings most uncompromising competition – the IPA Effectiveness Awards. Our biennial IPA Effectiveness Awards scheme is open to clients, agencies and media owners and is the most rigorous and prestigious effectiveness programme in the world. International agency winners include OMD Worldwide (Network Agency of the Year), FCB New Zealand, Lowe & Partners. DDB Tribal, Lowe Roche Canada, OMD Denmark and Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia.
