Group Agenda

The role of the 44 Club is to inform and inspire the younger end of the spectrum of people working in the advertising industry.

The Group does this through organising a programme of events designed to complement the formal training offered by the IPA and member agencies and which is representative of all disciplines within the industry. It offers access to high profile and influential people and thought-provoking topics through a series of fun, informative monthly events.

Tickets for all events are available at:
£25  VAT per person for member agencies
£45 VAT per person for non-members (payable in advance)
£20 VAT per person for students and interns (payable in advance)

We have a committee made up of 10-12 people that meet every six weeks to table ideas and plan the events. We also have approximately 150 London based 44 Club Representatives that spread the word amongst their colleagues. We contact these reps each month with news of upcoming events.

Every quarter, all the IPA's Committees and Groups report to Council on their activities during the previous three months.

Press Account Director

Demi started his career in 2002 as a sales assistant for Carlton Media, and was there when they merged with Granada to form a single ITV sales house. He then had dabbled in the world of accounting at KPMG for a few years before deciding his effervescent charm and personality were more suited towards the wonderful world of press advertising where he started at PHD in late 2005. He works on a range of accounts at PHD like McCain, Macmillan, AA and all of UKTV’s television channels. He is passionate about all things press, from Magazines to tablets and the challenges the press industry is facing and what it is doing to meet them. In his spare time he likes spinning, Pilates , and Yoga. (And the odd Poker game)

Director, Client Leadership

With over eleven years of agency experience under his belt, John has built up his CV working on digital projects on behalf of the Tate Gallery, William Hill, Sony, and Mondelez International to name a few. This experience is peppered with a range of external pursuits – from football to live music all the way to screenwriting – and sandwiches a sabbatical to complete an MA in Digital Media at Goldsmiths, University of London. As a result, John would like you to believe his abstract perception of the world is a product of this eclectic background, and in no way connected to his enthusiastic affection for peaty single malts… At present, John is focussed on putting his stamp on the global BP Castrol business.

Account Director

Zara started her career client-side in government communications (COI). Having started there as a graduate trainee, she worked across a range of disciplines spanning diverse topics, from channel planning for a campaign on dementia to producing apps encouraging alcohol awareness. Eventually, Zara specialised there as a Junior Planner focused on campaign evaluation. Keen to get more involved in the creative development though and embracing a love of quirky décor and ping pong, Zara joined Karmarama in 2011 where she worked on brands including Nintendo, Onken and the BBC as an Account Manager. Whilst there, Zara also set up and ran the agency’s Good Karma Collective - a group responsible for the agency’s CSR projects. In 2014, Zara joined the team at CHI & Partners as an Account Director on Argos and British Gas, with highlights including filming 4 men dancing in a wind tunnel in neon pink suits and helping bring to life Wilbur the Penguin as part of British Gas’ ‘warm and working’ animated world. Zara joined mcgarrybowen in April 2016 where she currently works on Western Union and Honda.

After a few years skilling up on money management and bills on Halifax and E.ON, she moved to Creature in 2012 to become one of their first Account Directors. Now Joint Head of Account Management, she is part of the management team, continuing to drive the growth of the agency and leading various strands of business including Arla, Ryvita, RHS and The Green Party. She then moved agency-side, straight into the wonderful world of New Business at direct marketing agency, Elvis.
