767 pass Foundation Certificate
The Foundation Certificate is the industry’s entry-level qualification aimed at graduates and practitioners with up to a year’s agency experience. Since its launch, 5833 industry practitioners have passed. It involves the completion of an online course, followed by a two-hour offline examination that took place in February in assessment centres around the UK.
- Of the 767 passes, there were 42 distinctions (5.5%), 560 credits (73%) and 165 passes (21.5%).
- 60.4% were from media agencies and 39.6% from creative and other non-media agencies.
- Of those that passed, 430 (56%) were female, and 337 (44%) were male. 5.6% of females received distinctions compared to 5.3% of males.
Says Patrick Mills, Director of Professional Development, IPA: “The IPA Foundation Certificate goes from strength to strength with another year of incredible participation. With 781 taking the exam in February (and 767 passing) the Certificate is now established as the must-have qualification for new starters in the industry. This continued success and the highly relevant and up to date content, written by IPA member practitioners, has attracted interest from agencies all over the globe, which is a fantastic accolade for this initiative launched under the Presidency of Stephen Woodford in 2004. We are looking forward to the Certificate breaking more records to celebrate its tenth anniversary next year. Congratulations to all those who passed.”
The IPA will be running a series of ads, detailing the names of the successful candidates, in the advertising press at the beginning of July.
The IPA Foundation Certificate was awarded a Gold prize in Best Online Distance Learning at the 2012 E-learning Awards.
