Gough Bailey Wright’s Michelle Wright appointed as IPA’s Midlands City Head
The appointment was announced at the IPA Midlands annual dinner last night in Birmingham (7th November).
In her role as City Head, Michelle will take on a number of challenges including looking into how best to engage with talent in the region as well as working with IPA members and fellow city heads (Jackie Holt, Dan Appleby and Tim Jones) as well as IPA Chair for England and Wales, Andy Reid to raise awareness of industry issues and support IPA initiatives.
Michelle succeeds Andy Wilson, founder and Group Chief Executive at WAA, who served as Midlands City Head for fouryears.

Michelle’s career in marketing and communications spans over 30 years. After joining Shaw & Underwood Advertising on a youth opportunities scheme aged just 16, Michelle had a spell in publishing working for national and local trade magazines. She returned to advertising with roles at Golley Slater Brooker and Charles Barker before joining Gough Advertising in 1995. This challenging role in a growing agency opened up a whole new world of responsibility, including media, strategy, planning and creative. In 2005, Michelle joined forces with PR and property communications expert Sue Bailey to complete a management buy-out and create Gough Bailey Wright.
Today, Michelle is GBW Company Director, responsible for Creative Services, Digital and new business. The award-winning 27-strong team provides a full suite of marketing services to clients across a variety of sectors.
