ICO and AA on Cookies and OBA issues

At an IPA law breakfast seminar on 7th June 2011 Dave Evans, Group Manager, Business & Industry at the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) and Will Blomefield, Regulatory Affairs Manager for the Advertising Association explained to a packed agency audience issues concerning internet cookies and Online Behavioural Advertising.


Dave Evans explained how the ICO will interpret the recent changes to the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations about cookie use. In particular he covered how the ICO intends to enforce the new legislation and what website operators need to do to ensure they comply. To see Evans' presentation, click here.

Will Blomefield explained the cross-industry framework regarding Online Behavioural Advertising (OBA) which is aimed at providing greater transparency to consumers accessing websites on which OBA features. To view Blomefield’s presentation click here.
