Industry seeks out Search Superstars
Celebrating the craft and the creativity of search marketing
The IPA and Google want the industry to re-evaluate the craft of search marketing and the evolution of skills required to be a great search marketer, as well as the role of paid search marketing: search is not only about data, numbers and keywords. It’s also about creativity and engagement, and should be at the heart of any marketing plan.
Says Matt Bush, Director of Performance, Google: “Having led our agency business in the UK for the last four years, I’ve watched search drive emotions, tell stories and most importantly, deliver results for brands time and time again. Search is integral to all well executed media campaigns - of course I’m biased - and has evolved over 16 years like no other channel to deliver some of the most sophisticated marketing in the industry today. With this, I’m delighted to be announcing our Search Superstars initiative in the UK in partnership with the IPA and Campaign to celebrate what I believe is one of the most important crafts in media, that of the search practitioner."
Says Paul Mead, Chairman, IPA Search Group and CEO, VCCP Media: “Search is the glue that binds campaigns together – from the insights it delivers in planning to the response it drives at the bottom of the funnel. It’s a role that goes way beyond day to day optimisation of a search campaign. The new breed of search marketers needs to understand every aspect of the communications strategy and interface directly with many elements of it. This new initiative is great way to celebrate our search superstars and promote all the things that make search such an exciting career.”
