IPA informs members of SACN and PHE reports on sugar

The IPA would like to bring members’ attention to a recent report on carbohydrates and health by the Scientific Advisory Commission on Nutrition and a press announcement by Public Health England on sugar consumption that have again highlighted the problem of childhood obesity.

Says Richard Lindsay, IPA Director of Legal & Public Affairs, “The problem can only be solved if its root causes are identified, based on accurate evidence. There are numerous pieces to this puzzle and the ad industry needs to be involved. By working with others, the ad industry can contribute its wide range of skills and experience to help tackle what has become a growing concern. The IPA is working with the Advertising Association and we hope that we will be able to play a positive part in demonstrating advertising’s valuable contribution to society.”
