Advertising Unlocked is an IPA initiative to encourage advertising agencies to open their doors to students from schools in their area.

After the success of last year, Advertising Unlocked will be back for its third iteration, and we’d love for your agency to take part.

Last year saw an impressive 1500 students visit approximately 70 agencies across the UK. This year we want it to be even bigger. Help us reach our aim of giving at least 2000 students unprecedented access to our wonderful industry by opening your doors on Friday 27th September 2019.

Our long-term ambition remains the same as last year; for every IPA member agency to take part, with the view to build long lasting relationships with schools and colleges in their local area.

We want advertising to be unlocked as a career path for those who may not have previously considered it, which is why we’re focusing on the following demographic criteria:

  • State education establishments
  • C2DE socio-economic background
  • BAME

What does my agency have to do?

We hope Advertising Unlocked 2019 will signal the start of a partnership between your agency and local schools in your area, lasting for years to come.

To help make that happen, the IPA will;

  • Commit to investing towards event to engage new diverse talent. 
  • Appoint a dedicated marketing agency to raise awareness and generate interest amongst schools in your area.
  • Match at least one school to your agency and require commitment from school to bring a minimum of 20 students.
  • Provide a brand collateral pack to help you structure the day.

We’d ask you to;

  • Commit to taking part and hosting some year 12 & 13 students (16 – 18 year olds). If you are not able to host the students at your agency but you are keen to be included, please get in touch using the form below.
  • Take over direct communications in the summer with your allocated school, to finalise details and logistics.
  • Develop your own agency plan (using basic materials and suggested structure supplied by IPA) for an interesting, engaging day, showing 16 – 18 year olds why our industry is great!
