In a nutshell
Together with the Creative Head - Art Director you are the heart and soul of the creative output of your chapter. You are the spark that will fire the imagination of everyone in the team compelling them to do great work. In short, you are the guardian of everything creative that leaves the chapter.

The basics
You are passionate and naturally want to lead and nurture the creative team. You know your clients – and their challenges - inside out and have knowledge of every brief going through your chapter. You fully understand why we always need to use our time wisely.

The specifics
As a writer you are master of tone of voice and the way that all your clients communicate. Keep everyone in the team inspired with great examples, track down fresh thinking, classic books and articles to stimulate thinking. Your specific part of the world will also include practical elements such as sourcing and building relationships with radio production studios and good producers who make problems go away.

  • Continually all over it
  • Lead the creative output of the team always ensuring that you remain closely connected to everyone
  • Provide clear creative direction to the team as well as ways to inspire 
  • Assess and nurture all creative opportunities to keep everyone fired up


Clarity and understanding

  • Ensure you provide clarity to the wider creative team on briefs and how they will be worked on 
  • Develop and foster an open and collaborative creative culture within the team
  • Work with the wider team to support brief writing skills and provide the foundation for great, effective work     
  • When required, work closely with the Chapter Head to develop strong, coherent strategic thinking for pitches an major projects for existing clients.

 Team management

  • Represent the agency at a senior level at all times
  • Develop and deploy motivational activities / techniques  
  • Provide direction and practical day-to-day support to the creative team within the Chapter 
  • Conduct regular one-to-one sessions with team members to review performance and set objectives


  • Create a very close working relationship with the Chapter Head – this is absolutely vital to the mood, drive and success of your chapter
  • Create strong relationships with clients – based on solid business understanding and empathy Ensure a collaborative spirit is maintained across the disciplines within the Chapter team 


  • Think hard about how the time available should be invested within the creative team  
  • Spot and develop added value business thinking for your client base 
  • Foster an understanding and appreciation for the distinction between creative expression and commercial reality
  • Always have the new business antenna up for potential opportunities
