Development Technical Lead – Reporting to the Head of Owned Media


 Working closely with the Board and reporting to both the Head of Owned Media and the Chief Operating Officer, the Development Technical Lead is responsible for the development of website solutions for our clients.

 Support and direction for Owned Media offering

o The agencies key dev ops, technical, web development and architectural lead

o As the agencies development and technical lead, you have a key role in defining the building blocks and technical specifications of all websites we build. You will co-ordinate closely with all internal team members, including SEO, project management, design and web development teams, as well as being a key client facing contact from a technical perspective

o You will act as the information architecture and technical lead for all new business website build projects

o You will work on client facing websites in a technical consultative role post go-live, ensuring briefed changes are scoped correctly, risks identified, and best practice implemented

o You champion, plan and shape our web development solutions alongside the Head of Owned Media


Key Responsibilities

• Working closely with and leading small team of web developers from a technical perspective

• The agencies dev ops lead

• Define our technical standards and work with the developers to apply these standards across all sites

• Provide leadership and technical support to the web developers when required

• Provide client facing development and technical support & consultancy in writing, on calls and in face-to-face meetings

• Responsible for the quality of the technical approach taken by team members, ensuring it is in line with company strategy

• To author and oversee technical quotes and specifications, ensuring they are complete and accurate

• Write detailed website technical specifications, whilst also being able to communicate this to potentially non-technical clients

• To facilitate technological decision making including systems architecture, code base development, best practice, and the deployment processes

• Create new website site architecture based on SEO insight, user research and client business requirements

• Map information and systems architecture of client websites, identifying existing pain points, and suggesting appropriate solutions to fulfil client and project requirements

• Create interactive wireframes and prototypes based on the resource requirements at that given time

• Plan and execute website migrations from one platform to another, with a key consideration given to migrating existing SEO value and ranking signals

• Management of all client website hosting, with consideration to speed, security and uptime

• Support in website technical and UX audits to help solve client problems and create new opportunities

• To stay on top of technical advancements to ensure we are always continuously improving, and aligned with industry and company standards

Skills and Experience

• Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS, HTML5, API’s, SDK, etc

• Advanced knowledge of programming languages and methodologies

• An understanding of various technology stacks

• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with internal staff, and to also communicate clearly and confidently to clients

• Experience and ability to design site architecture/information architecture based on collated SEO, UX research and client feedback

• Demonstrative experiences of API development

• Demonstrative experience of coordinating and working with third parties to push and pull data

• Experience of working in open source CMS platforms

• Basic knowledge of enterprise level CMS systems, and how they differ from open-source platforms

• Experience and knowledge working on SEO focused websites

• Experience and ability to create interactive wireframes in any chose tool, i.e. Axure, Balsamiq, Adobe XD

• Experience in the financial services and charity sectors is preferred

• An understanding of GTM and GA – with experience using both preferable
