You’ll be joining the Connections Planning team whose time is split between the GTB office, where strategy, creative and media collaboration all comes together, and the Mindshare office where you’ll be focused on developing your media planning skills and building relationships with other media specialisms.

About the Connections Planning Team
The Connections Planning team is the largest single department within the agency and acts as a key central point between the client and the other Mindshare business units. We’ve recently undergone a restructure to more clearly define each departments core focus, for Connections Planning, this focus is on developing actionable audience insights that deliver market leading media plans with cohesive cross channel consumer journeys.

A Connections Planner will take an approved Strategy, Target Audience and Comms Platform from the Strategy team and are then responsible for clearly articulating the key audience insights and role of each media channel in delivering against strategy and objectives. Working with the Exchange teams who identify the best media partners to work with, the Connections planner brings all individual plans together and can demonstrate how they complement each other to deliver a cohesive communications journey that also delivers the right business results for the client.

We invest heavily in staff development- training is extensive from the most junior level with mock pitches, cross-media training, and learning modules in conjunction with the GroupM University. We work hard to create a coaching culture across the agency and have launched a number of initiatives such as M Factor, a 2-week course for junior members to work collaboratively on live agency briefs, and our annual Huddle event that brings together the agency, clients and media owners for a day of innovative future planning discussions and workshops.

2. Partnership & collaboration
Working with the leadership and asset delivery team to ensure that we are working in the most consistent and integrated way possible and bringing the best of Mindshare and GTB to Ford.

Connected across the agency. Understands all areas of the business and has a close working relationship with all specialisms.

Liaising with the central team to ensure local recommendations are understood and the appropriate guidelines are followed. Supplying data and insights when required.

3. Personal and Interpersonal Skills

4. Developing Talent

Provides clear goals and SMART objectives in annual appraisal. Carries out appraisals and meets with individual regularly to discuss progress and performance

5. Reporting and data
Reporting: Working with the analytics team to deliver rolled up media reports with actionable insights for the client and internal teams

Data management: Confident working with and interpreting media data such as campaign results, market audits and audience data

• Ability to interpret a client brief and translate into a meaningful planning/buying brief for a cross-discipline team

• Excellent presentation skills demonstrating an ability to tell a clear strategic story

• Knowledge of key media tools & able to apply knowledge to GroupM specific tools

• Ability to analyse data and generate actionable insights

• Excellent campaign implementation skills and knowledge of campaign reporting and analysis outputs – must confident translating these for clients and discussing questions

• Keen eye for detail

• Demonstrate proactive team and project management skills by giving clear direction, delegating effectively and helping team members to prioritise

• Anticipates where problems could occur and takes decisive action accordingly

• 8+ years experience with the majority in media planning

• Previous planning experience in Automotive

• Experience managing a team of different levels and working with individuals to set SMART objectives and work towards their goals

• Previous experience working closely with a strategist or creative planner to write briefs, client documents and review ideas

• A strong interest in automotive and awareness of category marketing

• Demonstrate a passion for media and the increasing possibilities it offers to deliver impact through data, tech and content

• Strong understanding of the role of paid media within the broader communications mix

• A collaborative attitude and ability to work effectively within a senior team; sharing information & keeping stakeholders informed

• Ability to problem-solve as a group & understand the wider context of decisions/direction

• Embrace the Ford team structure and contribute to a positive working relationship between the GTB and Mindshare teams
