Working for equimedia, a digital performance agency, the planning account director is a senior client contact who leads the development and planning of our client’s digital strategy and oversees all campaign execution. Experienced in leading digital marketing strategy and developing mid to long term digital marketing plans, you can also lead and develop a team effectively.

You are comfortable with data and responsible for leading results analysis, challenging what you see, extracting insights, spotting opportunities for clients, setting targets and monitoring results. You work hard to stay up to date with digital development and lead evaluation of new innovations and their suitability for your clients. Account planning is a large part of your role, as is development of your team and their skills.

You are responsible for building strong, proactive relationships with client teams and making equimedia a key part of the client marketing department, spotting opportunities in existing clients to increase the clients’ business online and develop our involvement with each client. You can make the complex, simple, and so can sell in new ideas effectively.

Day to day the planning account director co-ordinates the flow of client work and ensures that campaign planning and execution is delivered to the highest possible standard, as efficiently as possible. You ensure communication with our clients and all administration and campaign delivery functions operate effectively. With a keen commercial sense, you will manage the impact of all decisions and work closely with directors when developing commercial proposals for clients. You always seek to lead and work with colleagues in a way that gets the best outcome for equimedia, our team and our clients. You plan individual staff skill development and training and monitor progress.

This is a big picture role in terms of working within the agency and with clients – you are client and whole business focused at all times. In order to fulfil all your responsibilities, you will proactively contribute to sales and marketing.

Key Responsibilities

Leading client account strategy, planning and forecasting, short, medium and long term

Leading results data analysis, insight development and opportunity spotting for our client and the agency

Ensuring all commercial proposals are good for the client and the agency

Developing proactive, positive relationships with all clients

Actively seek account development opportunities and lead client education

Monitoring the status of client relationships, quality of agency/client communication, and campaign planning, execution and delivery

Ensuring all client queries are responded to appropriately and equimedia are proactive, delivering to client expectations

Supporting and developing the skills and expertise of your team

Work closely with the agency team to manage the flow of data across the business and be aware of, at all times, the tracking, reporting and analysis taking place and the software and systems in place to enable the measurement of media effectiveness

Ensure our internal finance control processes and all other processes are adhered to at all times

Continuously develop knowledge of what is going on in digital media, the web and society, business and culture in general, and lead research in your clients’ business and markets.

Provide recommendations for our asset development: web site, case studies and social media. Actively participate in our content development and social media strategy.

Lead new business efforts and meetings as required and the development of new client relationships.

Network at all events to identify possible new leads for equimedia.

Key skills and qualities we are looking for include:

Experienced digital marketer with strategic digital planning abilities

An understanding of digital channels and platforms, targeting options, campaign optimisation, results tracking and analysis; able to lead data interrogation discussions and spot new opportunities for client and agency

Analytical approach with strong excel skills

Good at building positive client and team relationships

Strong commercial sense

Great communication skills, both written and verbal, and experienced in powerpoint

Motivated, enthusiastic and proactive attitude

Good team player, team leader and motivator

Experience of working within a fast-paced agency environment

Has good attention to detail

Ideally an academic degree, science, maths, technology or English based with a minimum 2:1. Science, English or maths ‘A’ levels if not studied to degree level.
