IPA appoints Buxton to drive new business

In his role as the IPA’s Head of New Member Acquisition, Buxton will be looking to attract more of the UK’s best and most successful agencies.

The IPA is pleased to announce that it has appointed Alex Buxton as Head of New Member Acquisition.

Buxton joined the IPA in early 2019 as Marketing Manager where he was instrumental in the success of the nationwide industry careers day AdUnlocked, in which over 60 top UK advertising and media agencies opened their doors to thousands of school children. He also helped manage the IPA working groups across industry specialities developing research, training and the IPA Business Growth Conference. Prior to this, the Leeds-graduate worked in various agencies including Libertine and RZed.

In his role as the IPA’s Head of New Member Acquisition, Buxton will be looking to attract more of the UK’s best and most successful agencies from across the spectrum of marketing disciplines into membership. In doing so, they will be able to access the full range of IPA services, including best practice, knowledge, advice, continuous professional development and collective intelligence.

In addition, Buxton will engage with younger agencies through the IPA Accelerator scheme. Accelerator is specially designed to help start-up agencies with an annual gross income of less than £500,000 grow their businesses.

Says Patrick Mills, Director of Membership and Professional Development: “As agencies face growing uncertainty from the macro issues of Brexit, the climate crisis and the Coronavirus, to the industry issues of in-housing, profit margin squeezing and tackling diversity – to name but a few - agencies need a well-respected, trustworthy body to turn to and unite with. We are here to equip them with the support and guidance to help drive their and their clients’ businesses. With the appointment of Alex, our future member agencies will be in very safe hands.”

Buxton succeeds former Head of New Business Aisling Conlon who has now joined the Advertising Association overseeing the UK’s Advertising Export Group (UKAEG), of which the IPA is a core partner.

If you are interested in joining IPA membership either as an agency, Accelerator or as a personal member (MIPA), contact Alex directly.
