Big Cat’s Anthony Tattum and Golley Slater’s Mike Leeson have been appointed as the IPA City Heads for Birmingham and the Midlands; and Cardiff, Wales and the South West, respectively.
In their roles, Anthony and Mike will serve as figureheads for the industry in their regions, championing and engaging the outstanding talent in the advertising community and providing a voice for IPA members in their areas.
They will also work closely with IPA Chair for England & Wales, Michelle Wright on wider industry issues; IPA initiatives and encouraging agencies to embrace the benefits of continuous professional development.
Commenting on the appointments, Patrick Mills, Director of Membership & Professional Development, IPA said: “I’m delighted that Anthony and Mike have agreed to be the new City Heads for their areas. It’s incredibly important for us to connect with, and understand the issues which are impacting our agencies around the country, and the City Heads play a vital role in helping us meet the needs of all of our members.”

I look forward to engaging not only with IPA agencies but also wider stakeholders groups including the Welsh Government, academia and those organisations representing the creative sector."
Mike succeeds Tim Jones as City Head for Bristol The South West and Wales, while Anthony succeeds Michelle Wright in Birmingham and the Midlands, following her appointment as the new IPA Chair for England & Wales.
Anthony Tattum’s career trajectory has been an unusual one, promoting nightclubs in 90s Birmingham before launching a marketing communications agency in 2000. Now CEO at Big Cat, an agency renowned in campaigns in health, retail, hospitality, and charities, he has attracted an equally impressive client roster and talent pool.
With 25 years in advertising Anthony is a marketer that instinctively understands the power of campaigns that integrate creativity, brand building and activation. Anthony supervises a research collaboration with University of Birmingham and speaks regularly at students, peers and client events about making the most of the marketing mix.
He has a passion for improving lives through effective campaigns that combine tangible results with societal impact. Anthony is a Midlands board member for Variety, the Children’s Charity offering counsel on strategy, commercialisation and effectiveness.
Mike has thirty years of unbroken experience in Advertising and Integrated Marketing Services, working predominantly on European, National and Regional Consumer Brands and major Public Sector behavioural change campaigns.
He has held several roles withing the IPA, serving as Chairman of the Regions and Honorary Secretary before becoming City Head for Cardiff, Wales and the South West.
