The IPA welcomes the news that Google YouTube has signed up to the cross-industry DTSG principles. The move marks a significant step in helping to improve online brand safety and transparency.
Says IPA Director General, Paul Bainsfair:
“We have been working tirelessly to help improve the safety of the online environment for brand advertising through our cross-industry work with JICWEBS and through the IPA’s additional targeted efforts.
“In her inaugural speech as IPA President, Sarah Golding called for the big tech platforms to step up. This was followed by the open letter we wrote to Google calling for YouTube to be DTSG-certified in August. And just last week we arranged a coordinated email from multiple agency buying points to all digital display suppliers asking for confirmation of their DTSG status.
“We, therefore, welcome the news of this latest and significant signatory. YouTube being certified to the JICWEBS DTSG principles and having that independent check on the processes they are applying is a breakthrough step that will reduce risk through increased transparency.
“We will continue, with the other JICWEBS stakeholders, to raise standards that reduce risk further.”
