IPA Director General Paul Bainsfair has provided his reaction to the Government’s announcement of a General Election on 8th June.
“While the announcement is unexpected, both the polls and the City - with the pound bouncing back after a slight dip against the euro and the dollar - seem confident of a clear-cut result.
“In that sense, it seems therefore unlikely that this will dent marketing spend.
“Indeed, in the run up to the last election in May 2015 - the result of which seemed far harder to call, the Q1 2015 IPA Bellwether report released in April 2015 revealed companies were planning to bolster their marketing budgets to the greatest degree in eight years.
“A strong majority party will of course help to provide some much needed stability as we head in to our Brexit negotiations – the impact of which is once again documented in the Q1 2017 Bellwether Report.”
