The IPA has today reacted to the resignation of WPP CEO Sir Martin Sorrell.
Says Paul Bainsfair, Director General, IPA:
"There's no doubt about it, Sir Martin was a game changer. One of a kind, a tour de force with unequalled achievements. Respected and sometimes feared by all sides. He has also been a great supporter of the IPA both behind the scenes and front of stage. He was always on top of the macro and the micro issues that face our industry. He represented British advertising on the world stage and his opinions were always required reading by anyone who has an interest in advertising. I worked alongside Martin at Saatchis and it was clear from his early days in advertising that he was a man of extraordinary talents. He has been at the helm for so long it's hard to believe he'll no longer be occupying this position. It's an understatement to say he will be a hard act to follow."
