The IPA will be working with the AA and Creative Industries Council to agree an industry response to the new Industrial Strategy Green Paper announced by Government. The purpose of the Green Paper is to ensure UK plc remains strong by tackling any areas of weakness eg productivity, boosting exports and or improving access to capital.
The Government has challenged all sectors to come forward with their own transformational proposals; proposals that could involve readdressing regulatory barriers, promoting investment or increasing exports.
Said Paul Bainsfair: “Successive governments continue to recognise that the UK advertising industry is a world-leading, value-creation sector with a balance of payments surplus that is the biggest in Europe and with annual exports of advertising services worth £4.1bn a year. So we welcome being part of this conversation and being invited to make our case: for ensuring easy access to talent; upgrading digital infrastructures; ensuring there is more support to encourage businesses to start and grow; and ensuring regulations are not allowed to stifle creativity and innovation. We also welcome the announcement of an Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund to help finance research and development including robotics, AI and 5G mobile network technology.”
