Professor of Marketing: Chair, Marketing Faculty, London Business School
Simona Botti is Professor of Marketing at London Business School and Marketing Subject Area Chair. Prior to joining London Business School she was a faculty member at Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University, and at SDA Bocconi, Bocconi University. She received a BA from Bocconi University and an MBA and PhD in Marketing from the University of Chicago.
At London Business School, Simona teaches the Brand Management elective and an Executive Education course titled Strategic Branding, which she also co-directs. In 2017 she received the MBA Best Teacher Award and the Excellence in Teaching Award.
Simona’s research is on consumer behavior and decision making, with a focus on the psychological processes underlying perceived personal control and how different ways of providing and exercising control influence well-being. She has published in leading psychology and marketing journals and was selected for the Marketing Science Institute’s 2009 Young Scholar and 2018 Scholar programs. She received the 2007 Robert Ferber Award and the 2012 Journal of Consumer Behavior best article award. A paper co-authored with Yangjie Gu and David Faro received the 2104 Robert Ferber Award.
Simona is currently Associate Editor at Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, and Journal of Marketing. She has co-chaired the 2012 SCP Conference in Florence, Italy; the 2013 SCP Doctoral Symposium in San Antonio, Texas; the 2013 ACR Conference in Chicago, Illinois; the 2014 BDRM Conference in London, UK; and the 2016 Consumer Behavior Track at EMAC. From 2016 to 2018 she served on the Association for Consumer Research (ACR) Board as International Perspectives Director and she is currently a member of the ACR Ombuds team.
