IPA Competition Law Compliance Policy

General guidance on minimising infringement risks and avoiding violations

The IPA’s Competition Law Compliance Policy with which all IPA members must comply.

This policy has been prepared to advise IPA staff and members about competition law and how it impacts on the way we do things. It provides general guidance on minimising infringement risks and avoiding violations.

Since trade bodies like the IPA bring together companies that are actual or potential competitors, they are being increasingly scrutinised by authorities such as the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) because the nature of their work could enable them to act as a conduit for anti-competitive behaviour.

The policy reflects updates to the Competition and Market Authority's guidance on horizontal agreements, in particular, the section on anticompetitive information exchanges (chapter 8).
