Social Media Specialist

Job description

The Social Media Specialist plays a key role within the Digital Team at Media Minds, developing and implementing paid and organic social media services for our clients to enable them to achieve their marketing and communication goals, and helping build the agency’s reputation for highly effective digital marketing services.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with the Digital and Account teams, as well as client teams, to understand clients’ strategic marketing goals and translate these goals into a social media strategy and content plan for client campaigns, within available budget and resources
• Plan and implement high-quality social media content for clients that drives engagement and generates desired marketing outcomes (click-throughs, downloads, sign-ups, leads, etc.) while growing target audience segments based on a strong understanding of these target audiences and of the operation and advanced use of each social platform
• Write, design, package and publish a high volume of social media posts relevant to specific audiences, proactively using performance metrics to make adjustments to language, tone, format, and timing to optimise performance
• Carry out tracking and analysis to create insightful and actionable monthly, quarterly & ad hoc performance and insight reports as required for client and/or internal agency use. This could include a broad range of requirements from campaign performance, content audits, competitor analyses, brand research etc
• Support clients and agency business development with training, briefings and guidance; create social media resources such as Social Media Voice & Style Guides and Organic Channel Best Practices and other resources, and contribute to the preparation of pitches and proposals for new business to improve the agency’s competitiveness, as and when required
• Identify reliable independent sources of industry insight and regular benchmarks for social media performance for both internal use and external presentation to clients, ensuring accuracy of reported data
• Help support continued enhancements to the agency’s digital professionalism and competitiveness, by constantly monitoring the digital landscape for early identification and assessment of relevant developments, trends, opportunities and issues across the social media landscape. Contribute to regular update briefings for the Digital team and for the wider agency to ensure an appropriately high level of awareness and understanding of social media trends, issues and developments on each platform.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Working closely with the Digital team and Account teams, as well as collaborating with all team-members across Media Minds, this role requires:
• Experience creating and managing paid and organic social strategies and activity on social media platforms (particularly LinkedIn, Facebook/Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitter), with deep knowledge of best practice on each platform and an ability to keep up to date with changes. Experience using social media management platforms (such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Agora Pulse) is a distinct advantage
• A good understanding of content-led marketing with experience developing content plans for social platforms to meet the specific needs and interests of a defined market segment.
• Able to synthesize input from multiple stakeholders across the agency and client teams to determine a social action plan, balancing the need for speed with thoughtfulness and collaboration
• Excellent communication skills and a creative eye for strong visual design, with the ability to write and edit social posts in a style and tone appropriate to target audiences, as well as presentation and report writing skills
• Meticulous attention to detail across the planning, execution, analysis and communication of social campaigns
• Rigorous analytical skills with experience of delivering insights from social media, web and other marketing related data
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills to plan and manage multiple social media activities concurrently to demanding deadlines
• Thorough knowledge of marketing and digital principles with a good understanding of online conversion, including customer journeys and the ability to quickly build an in-depth understanding of niche market segments
• A proactive approach to constructively contributing to projects, meetings, and account discussions to help drive the agency’s performance and growth
• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or related industry experience
• Advanced skills across MS Office, particularly Excel and Powerpoint
• Strong interpersonal communication, listening, and influencing skills with the ability to form strong client relationships
• Self-motivated, with an appetite to keep learning and deliver high-quality work
