Discover the strategy behind Labour’s General Election win

IPA Effectiveness Conference 2024 - Wednesday 9 October

Labour won the 2024 UK General Election by a landslide, but how did their strategic success lead to victory at the polls?

At the IPA Effectiveness Conference 2024, we’ll hear from one of the brains behind Labour’s advertising campaign, Lucky Generals’ Strategy Director, Rachel Hamburger about bringing consistency and credibility to Labour’s positive message, capturing the mood of the nation in their attack comms and when the time came –driving out complacency and getting people to vote.

The hybrid conference on Wednesday 9 October, brings together some of the smartest thinkers in effectiveness to provide you with the key lessons from the IPA Effectiveness Awards through new R&D, thought leadership and expert case studies on everything from humour, measurement and the effectiveness of content creators.

Key content includes:

  • Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London, Sophie Scott dissecting the neuroscience of laughter to provide a behavioural perspective on humour and challenge our perceptions on how it’s used in advertising.
  • System1’s Andrew Tindall presenting new research into the value of creative consistency and whether effectiveness increases when a clear creative hook is used across campaigns.
  • IPA Effectiveness Awards Chair of Judges, Nationwide’s Catherine Kehoe interviewing the 2024 Grand Prix winners as we go behind the scenes of their spectacular success.
  • Dr Grace Kite unveiling new evidence on the future value of present spend and how advertising can not only increase sales, but help brands command a price premium and even bolster the share price.
  • A head-to-head between Lucky Saint and Guinness - two different brands on the same mission: to increase the alcohol-free arena.
  • ITV providing new evidence from multiple categories of how brand advertising has contributed to brands' profit margins and strategies for framing this proof according to the language and priorities of clients' finance teams and CEOs.
  • A session dedicated to the impact of creators and social platforms in the beauty and self-care category will contrast the strategies and measurement of industry stalwart, Dove, and the fast-rising Skin+Me.
