The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) has welcomed the appointment of Ian Murray MP as Minister of State jointly in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).
His appointment comes at a critical time for the creative industries, with the Government's Industrial Strategy and the Creative Industries Sector Plan setting ambitious targets for growth and innovation.
“We warmly welcome Ian Murray to this vital role and look forward to working closely with him to help deliver on the ambitions set out in the Government’s Industrial Strategy. Advertising is a key driver of the UK’s creative economy and is one of the four ‘frontier’ sub-sectors named in the Creative Industries Sector Plan where it is recognised for its strong growth potential.
“The IPA remains committed to working in partnership with the Government to champion its growth agenda, from skills development and exports, to building regional creative clusters and more, to ensure the UK remains a global leader in advertising and the wider creative economy.”
The IPA also extends its thanks to outgoing Minister Chris Bryant MP for his support of, and appreciation for, the advertising industry.
