IPA remembers Janet Mayhew

The IPA's 'Miss Mayhem' has passed away aged 92

The IPA is sad to announce the passing of Janet Mayhew, aged 92.

Before retiring in 1993, Janet led the IPA’s print media research and marketing publications, including 1974's Testing to Destruction, and operated Jicnars. She also ran the IPA Press Research Advisory Group and served as Secretary to the IPA Effectiveness Awards Committee, playing a vital role in evaluating the evidence presented during  judging.

Commenting on Janet's passing, Lynne Robinson, Former IPA Research Director, said: "Janet was a complete one-off and was known affectionately as Miss Mayhem by those who worked with her. During a long career at the IPA she was a great promoter of industry media research and was a key part of the team which launched and ran the original IPA Advertising Effectiveness Awards. She loved opera and history and behind that formidable exterior, was a great supporter of women and young people within the business."

Janet's funeral will take place on Thursday, 2 April, at 9.45 am at Bournemouth Crematorium.
