Account Handling Essentials Course

How to grow, develop and progress as a junior member of the Account Handling team.

This virtual course will help you to grow, develop and progress in the fast-paced environment of the advertising industry and is especially helpful to those that are new to agency life.

Who is this course for?

Junior members of the Account Handling team (1 year of experience maximum).

What are the benefits?

The advertising industry is dominated by strong-minded, opinionated and very forceful characters. To grow, develop and progress in such a competitive and fast-paced environment, there are behaviours that simply have to be embraced, especially by those who are new to agency life.

The agency must teach the technicalities of the role and in particular, the specifics of their processes. This course will augment that basic training by sharing the behaviours, mindsets and attitudes that are core to building a successful career in advertising.

It will explain these behaviours in the context of the agency environment and the expectations of senior Client Service personnel.

Account Handling Essentials is specifically designed and built around input and feedback from CSDs, ADs, L&D specialists, and AEs in their first agency roles, all currently working across IPA member agencies.

Content:

This course is a busy, engaging and interactive session and by the end of the course, delegates will be (better) able to:

  • Communicate effectively by understanding how we think and react to situations, and managing our inner dialogue accordingly.
  • Embrace the relentless enthusiasm that defines the success of the Exec role.
  • Ask questions that generate the answers you need to clarify exactly what is required of you in any situation.
  • Actively listen in all situations to ensure that they are always learning.
  • Give and receive feedback honestly and objectively.
  • Ruthlessly manage time with a clear focus on priorities and expectations.
  • Establish themselves as the focal point in their team and the go-to person who knows what’s happening.

This course will take place virtually via zoom:

  • Tuesday 2 September 10am - 1pm
  • Wednesday 3 September 10am - 1pm

Trainer:

Alan Mead is now a Coach and Trainer having spent over 30 years in advertising, working as a Group Board Account Director, Production then Procurement Director and finally Head of Learning along the way. His submissions have secured his last Agency, Bray Leino, 3 IPA CPD Gold and 2 IPA CPD Platinum Awards.
