DHSS/COI - AIDS: Public Education 1986-88

Two campaigns in 1986-88 to educate the public into the dangers of AIDS. A general media campaign 'Don't Die of Ignorance' Than a further campaign aimed at intravenous drug users. Specific aims were to increase awareness and modify behaviour of those at risk. Five national press executions followed by multi-media - November 1986 / March 1987, + all households leaflet drop. Tracking showed a high awareness of the campaign and the disease and improved knowledge of how AIDS could be caught. Effects of the drug users campaign were harder to track but signs of attitude shift and high awareness were clear.
